so close, and yet so far...

...this is life. So long, and yet so short. Funny how the things that seem the closest to being right can turn out to be the most wrong. Maybe long is short and short is long. Maybe what looks furthest from our reach is most within our grasp whereas what we think is right beneath our noses is impossible to attain. Think backwards for a moment and see if you don't end up ahead of where you started, because perhaps the closest things are the farthest away. And maybe we shouldn't find balance...because balance might turn out to be equilibrium and stagnancy...and could unexpectedly topple us. Maybe we were given two tightropes to walk (i.e. to live the short and the long, the near and the distant) because walking both at the same time would give the greatest balance - in the sense of us balancing because we are living (as opposed to living because we are balancing).

Most of the beautiful things in life are paradoxes...not balances...both/and may = vibrancy and life, not equilibrium.
